The Art of Asking: Aligning with the Universe’s Flow

Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” ”- Romans 12:2. ESV

Have you ever wondered why, despite putting so much effort into your desires, the universe seems to ignore your requests? Maybe you’ve been told to “believe and it will happen,” yet things still don’t flow. It’s frustrating, isn’t it?

Here’s a truth no one may have told you before: the problem isn’t with the universe, but with how you are asking.

What if I told you that the secret is not just thinking positively but understanding a much deeper mechanism that connects your thoughts, emotions, and intentions to the reality you create? This is not superstition or vague mysticism—it is the science of consciousness, an ancient wisdom that has been encoded in spiritual traditions across cultures, from African spirituality to Buddhism, from Hinduism to Islam, from the teachings of Christ to the mystical insights of the Kabbalah.

Many people believe that simply wishing for something is enough. But the truth is, asking is an art, a process that goes far beyond words. It is an energetic alignment, a vibrational coherence between what you feel, believe, and desire.

If your desires seem distant or unattainable, the uncomfortable truth may be this: you are sending mixed messages to the universe.

But here’s the good news—there is a way to ask that turns even the most impossible dreams into reality. A way that aligns your thoughts, emotions, and intentions so powerfully that the universe cannot help but respond.

Let’s explore this power together.

The Universal Language of Energy

Many spiritual traditions teach us that the universe is not just a passive force, but a conscious, intelligent field that responds to the energy we emit. In the Kabbalah, this is known as the principle of “Ohr Makif” (the surrounding light), which suggests that our inner world shapes the outer world. If we ask from a place of doubt and fear, the light cannot fully manifest our desires.

Similarly, in African spirituality, the concept of Ashe (a Yoruba term meaning divine life force) teaches that our words, thoughts, and emotions have creative power. The elders say, “The word is not just spoken, it is released,” meaning that what we declare with conviction carries the force to shape reality.

In Hinduism, the Bhagavad Gita teaches, “A person is what he desires. As his desire is, so is his will. As his will is, so is his deed. As his deed is, so is his destiny.” This suggests that merely stating a desire is not enough—our inner world must align with it.

Consider this:

If a farmer plants seeds in dry, unfertile soil, can he expect a bountiful harvest? Of course not. The soil must be nurtured and prepared.

Similarly, if we plant our desires in an emotional state of fear, doubt, or unworthiness, they cannot take root.

The Problem of Mixed Signals

Jacobo Grinberg, one of the greatest scholars of the human mind and its ability to shape reality, revealed that asking goes far beyond words or random thoughts. It is an internal process that requires coherence between what you feel, believe, and desire. When these elements are out of sync, you send mixed messages to the universe, making it nearly impossible for your dreams to materialise.

But here’s the good news: There is a way to ask that turns even the most impossible desires into reality. A way that aligns your mind, heart, and spirit like never before.

It’s not just saying, “I want abundance,” but feeling, believing, and vibrating at the frequency of abundance.

But here’s where most people struggle: they ask for something while holding onto doubt.

A woman may say, “I want a loving relationship,” but deep down, she fears abandonment. A man may say, “I want wealth,” but carries an ingrained belief that money is hard to earn. These conflicting energies create resistance.

As the Taoist philosopher Lao Tzu said, “When the mind is still, the universe surrenders.” This means that when we eliminate internal contradictions, our requests gain power.

Turning the Ask into a Vibration

Think of asking as composing music. Every emotion you feel is a note, and, every belief you hold is a melody. When these elements are in harmony, the music is clear, fluid, and irresistible to the universe.

However, if your energy is out of alignment, it’s like trying to play a symphony on an out-of-tune piano. The sound reaches the universe, but it’s confusing—and the message isn’t understood.

Jesus taught this principle in Matthew 21:22, “Whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” This means that belief is not just an intellectual thought—it is an embodied state of certainty.

The Quran echoes this in Surah Al-Ghafir (40:60): “Call upon Me, and I will respond to you.” But for the call to be received, it must come from a heart free of doubt and aligned with trust.

So, how do we tune our vibration to the universe’s frequency?

The Process of Asking with Clarity

  1. Be Clear About What You Desire
The first step is defining your desire with precision. It’s not just about wanting more money or love—it’s about knowing why you want it. Is it freedom? Security? Joy? The universe responds to clarity.
  2. Feel as If It Is Already Done
Buddhist teachings emphasize the power of non-attachment—feeling gratitude for what we desire as if it already exists. This creates a vibrational match between where we are and what we seek. But when you desire it from a vibrational reality of it not being there, your desire will unlikely appear, let alone quickly.
  3. Remove Inner Resistance
Identify limiting beliefs that contradict your desire. If you seek wealth but secretly believe that “rich people are corrupt,” or “to be rich you have to be unscrupulous”, you create an inner conflict. Replace these beliefs with affirmations that align with your truth.
  4. Align Thought, Emotion, and Action
In African cosmology, the Akan people teach “Sesa wo suban” (Transform your character). This means that manifestation is not just about asking but becoming. Act in accordance with your desires. Be, then come to your desire (become).
  5. Detach from the Outcome
Lao Tzu teaches, “Do your work, then step back. The only path to serenity.” When we let go of attachment, we allow the universe to orchestrate the best possible outcome. It stems from the divine knowledge that you are already one with that which you desire and therefore don’t need to struggle or worry about getting it (if it is for your good and or good of others).

Why the Universe May Delay Your Request

Sometimes, what we desire does not manifest immediately. This does not mean the universe or God is ignoring us. Instead, we must trust divine timing.

In the Hindu Upanishads, it is said: “When the flower blossoms, the bee will come.” This means that when we reach the right vibrational frequency, our desires will flow effortlessly.

Trust that the universe is always listening—even when you think it’s silent.

Becoming a Conscious Creator

Asking is not about pleading with the universe. It is about stepping into your power as a co-creator.

You are the architect of your life. By aligning your thoughts, emotions, and beliefs with clarity, certainty, and trust, you begin to see that the universe is not separate from you—it is responding to you at all times.

This is why Jesus said in Luke 17:21, “The Kingdom of God is within you.” Your external world is a reflection of your internal state.

Final Thought: The Universe Responds to Who You Are

The universe does not give you what you want.
It gives you who you are.

If you desire love, become love.
If you seek abundance, embody abundance.
If you want peace, live in peace.

The path to manifestation is not about shouting your desires into the cosmos. It is about being the vibrational match for what you seek.

So, take a deep breath.

Feel the peace, the gratitude, the trust that your desires are already in motion.

Align. Ask. And allow the universe (God in expression) to respond.

For the music of your soul is already playing—let it be in tune with the divine symphony of creation.

Remember, to live I your destiny, you must have faith and trust in God, the divine power within you and that powers all that is in the world.

“5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes; fear the Lord, and depart from evil.” Proverbs 3: 5-7
